PortMiami is the cruise capital of the world — more passengers depart from here than any other port. Whether you're sailing with Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian, MSC, or any other line, this guide covers everything you need to know about the Miami cruise port.
🚢 About PortMiami
Located on Dodge Island in Biscayne Bay, PortMiami is connected to downtown Miami by the Port Boulevard Bridge. It's just 8 miles from Miami International Airport and 15 minutes from South Beach (without traffic). The port has been massively upgraded in recent years with new terminals, including Royal Caribbean's stunning Terminal A — the largest cruise terminal in the US.

The buffet opens once you board, but the port area has limited food options and long lines.Carry essentials in a day bag. Luggage goes to your cabin later (sometimes not until evening). Pack medications, swimsuit, phone charger, and ID in your carry-on.Documents: Passport (required for most Caribbean itineraries), cruise booking confirmation, and a credit card for your onboard account.Arrive by noon for a typical 4 PM departure. This gives you time to settle in and explore the ship.🛬 After Your Cruise — Disembarkation
