Three days is the sweet spot for Miami. Enough time to hit the highlights without rushing. Here's how to spend them like a local, not a tourist.
📍 Day 1: South Beach & Art Deco
Start your morning with a walk along Ocean Drive before the crowds arrive. The pastel Art Deco buildings are stunning in morning light. Grab a cafecito at David's Cafe on Collins Avenue.
Spend the morning on South Beach between 5th and 15th Streets. Rent an umbrella and chairs from one of the beach vendors ($20-30 for the day). Swim, people-watch, and soak it in.
For lunch, skip Ocean Drive restaurants (overpriced tourist traps) and walk to Puerto Sagua on Collins Ave for authentic Cuban food at local prices. Try the ropa vieja or pan con bistec.
Afternoon: Walk the Art Deco Historic District — the Welcome Center on Ocean Drive offers guided walking tours at 10:30AM and 6:30PM. Or grab the free audio tour on their app.
Evening: Sunset drinks at The Broken Shaker in the Freehand Hotel, then dinner at Juvia on Lincoln Road's rooftop for incredible views and Japanese-Peruvian-French fusion.
📍 Day 2: Little Havana, Wynwood & Brickell
Morning: Head to Little Havana for breakfast at Versailles — the most famous Cuban restaurant in Miami. Order the Cuban toast with cafe con leche. Then walk Calle Ocho: domino park, cigar shops, fruit stands selling fresh mango with lime and chili.
Midday: Drive or Uber to Wynwood. Explore the Wynwood Walls, browse galleries, and grab lunch at Coyo Taco (hidden speakeasy bar in the back). Walk the surrounding streets — murals are everywhere, not just inside the Walls.
Afternoon: Head to Brickell City Centre for air-conditioned shopping, then walk to the free Metromover for an elevated loop around downtown with skyline views.
Evening: Dinner at Zuma in the Epic Hotel for upscale Japanese izakaya, then drinks at Sugar rooftop bar at EAST Hotel for panoramic Brickell views.
📍 Day 3: Key Biscayne & Coconut Grove
Morning: Drive over the Rickenbacker Causeway to Key Biscayne. Stop at Crandon Park Beach for calm, crystal-clear water. Continue to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park — hike to the lighthouse and grab lunch at the beachside Boater's Grill.
Afternoon: Head to Coconut Grove. Tour Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, a jaw-dropping Italian villa on the bay. Then stroll CocoWalk for boutique shopping and coffee.
Evening: For your last night, go big. Dinner at Mandolin Aegean Bistro in the Design District (Mediterranean in a gorgeous garden setting), then hit LIV at the Fontainebleau or E11EVEN if you want the full Miami nightlife experience.
💡 Pro tips: Use Uber/Lyft — parking is expensive everywhere. Make dinner reservations 2-3 days ahead. Drink water constantly — the humidity is real.
