About South Beach
South Beach is Miami's most iconic beach destination, stretching along the Atlantic Ocean from 1st Street to 23rd Street on Miami Beach. Famous worldwide for its wide white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water, and colorful Art Deco lifeguard towers, South Beach draws millions of visitors every year. The adjacent Art Deco Historic District along Ocean Drive features over 800 pastel-colored buildings from the 1930s and 1940s — the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world. Lummus Park runs along the beachfront with a popular paved path for walking, jogging, and biking. Visitors can rent beach chairs and umbrellas, try water sports like paddleboarding and jet skiing, or simply people-watch from the shore. The south end below 5th Street (known as SoFi) offers a quieter, more local vibe, while the area between 8th and 14th Streets is the liveliest stretch with beach clubs and volleyball courts. South Beach is also the gateway to Lincoln Road Mall, a pedestrian-only shopping and dining promenade just a few blocks from the sand. Whether you're looking for a vibrant beach day, world-class nightlife, or a sunset stroll along the water, South Beach is the quintessential Miami experience.
