About Venetian Pool
The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables is one of the most unique swimming destinations in the United States β a historic public pool carved from a coral rock quarry in 1924 and fed by natural underground springs. Designed in a Venetian-Italian style with waterfalls, cave grottos, stone bridges, a palm-lined island, and porticos, the pool holds 820,000 gallons of spring water that is drained and refilled daily during the swimming season. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Venetian Pool has hosted famous visitors including Johnny Weissmuller (the original Tarzan) and Esther Williams. The pool is surrounded by lush tropical landscaping and historic coral rock formations, making it feel more like a natural lagoon than a municipal swimming facility. The Venetian Pool is open seasonally (generally April through October, with limited winter hours) and has strict capacity limits, so arriving early is essential, especially on weekends. Children must be at least 3 years old and 38 inches tall to enter. It's one of Coral Gables' most treasured landmarks and a truly one-of-a-kind Miami experience.
Venetian Pool is a historic U.S. public swimming pool located in Coral Gables, Florida. Completed in 1924, it was designed by Phineas Paist with Denman Fink.
